I'm loving the new Jason Mraz right now. Also, anything Jack White is associated with. A local flavor, as previously suggested, would be fun.... maybe some old Dolly... and I don't mean me! :)

For one, you do have to include local artists like The White Stripes (my favorite), Raconteurs, Jack Johnson is great, but he is also in the "generic" coffe house music genre. John Mayer is cool, maybe some Black Crowes or Counting Crowes. Stones and Beatles definitely will make a positive feel, and another fave of mine, Bob Marley has to be put in somewhere.

I'm very excited about this place, and I love your attitude about music. To me, it's an essential part of the coffee house experience.
I agree with (almost) all of the above. I say lots of Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan.
Also, Norah Jones, Nickel Creek, Fionn Regan, Nick Drake, and Jeff Buckley all have a certain sound that goes well with a white mocha :).
It's also cool to switch genres and do some classic jazz and crooners as well.
I could go on about this for days, and with every other person's entry, I think, "I should have said that!" Looking forward to your opening!

Oh, and I also think the locals are essential--Raconteurs, Mat Kearney, MPJ, Andy Davis, Eric Wilson and Empty Hearts, etc. Supporting local business is directly related to supporting local music.

Sara Bareilles, Nickel Creek, Jack Johnson, Derek Webb are a few of my faves.
